Who are some of your favorite writers? How you answer will help you to know what genres you like to read. For example, one of my favorite authors is Jeffrey Archer. He has written many books but some of my favorites were his earlier works such as "Not a Penny More Not a Penny Less, As the Crow Flies or Honor Among Thieves." I remember once I opened his books they were hard to put down even for sleep. Although I am not a big reader I do enjoy reading on occasion and credit J.K. Rowling for getting my kids to love reading when she wrote the Harry Potter series. Mixing magic with people's prejudice was a fantastic way to "hook" her readers. One of my other favorite writers is Julie Matern. Now you could say well of course she is, she is your wife which is true but I like her books because she writes what she enjoys reading in other's books such as Clean Regency Romances Jane Eyre style, Agatha Christie mysteries or children's historical fiction.
